This isn't even biomimicry, it's just basic biology. Experiments at Rodale and in Northern California are already showing that replenishing the soil may be a quick way to help restore the planet, Pollan said. He detailed how trials on a North California ranch have shown that just a inch of compost layered onto range lands triggers the soil to rebound, for years.
